Adherence effects of a comprehensive REminder SysTem for post-myocardial infarction exercise and secondary prevention (AREST-MI)

Simple forgetfulness is a commonly cited reason for non-adherence to following exercise or medication prescriptions. With the proliferation of cell phones, text messages could be a cost-effective method to remind patients to follow recommendations from their providers. The AREST trials were two single-center randomized controlled trials using text messages to improve adherence and exercise in 84 patients receiving cardiac rehabilitation after hospitalization for myocardial infarction.
