The Center for Healthcare Delivery Sciences (C4HDS) at Brigham and Women’s Hospital is an academic research organization focused on the design and testing of innovative ways to engage patients and providers to promote the use of evidence-based approaches to improve health and healthcare delivery. 

We are seeking a research Program Manager and a Program Coordinator to join our team.

Program Manager

The Project Manager will provide ongoing infrastructure support for the administration of research activities and assist in the development of new project proposals to grow the portfolio of research projects conducted at the Center.

The Project Manager will work closely with the Center’s Executive Director and other leadership, investigators, and staff as well as collaborators at BWH, Partners HealthCare, and other institutions around the country. In addition, the Project Manager will manage the research assistants working at the Center and will be responsible for administrative tasks related to the Center’s research fellowship program.

 

This position requires excellent interpersonal skills, writing skills, problem-solving skills, strong organizational and communication skills, and the ability to think creatively about managing activities of a dynamic research team.
 

Key Management Responsibilities:

  • Provide oversight and management for day-to-day operations of the Center under the direction of the Center’s Executive Director

  • Oversee the seamless planning and execution of all aspects of research conducted at the Center

  • Collaborate with administrative leadership in the Division of Pharmacoepidemiology and Pharmacoeconomics to facilitate all relevant HR activities

  • Work with investigators to successfully develop, implement, and maintain a centralized project management model for the research conducted at the Center

  • Assist in the development of new project proposals and independently build relationships with collaborating institutions

  • Monitor progress of the Center’s overall research project portfolio and identify grant funding for future research conducted at the Center

  • Coordinate project plans and manage project meetings and agendas

  • Prepare presentations and materials for distribution related to strategic Center priorities

  • Contribute to building a collaborative culture at the Center and an interdisciplinary research team

  • Work cooperatively and effectively with other team members to set priorities, allocate resources, and monitor progress toward goals

Key Research Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for ensuring research operations run effectively and efficiently

  • Support and, if appropriate, lead the planning, execution and oversight of multi-year, multi-stakeholder pragmatic clinical trials

  • Manage project timelines to ensure that project goals are met on time

  • Provide project updates to project team and collaborators (internal and external)

  • Manage regulatory activities related to the Center’s research portfolio

  • Contribute to the preparation of research reports and manuscripts for publication in professional journals

Ideal candidate qualifications:

  • Master’s degree or higher in a healthcare field

  • Three or more years of experience in healthcare research project management and experience working within a health care network or health insurance company is highly preferred

  • Experience managing multi-stakeholder, multi-year projects

  • Ability to develop and implement strategies to ensure successful execution of population-based pragmatic clinical trials

  • Experience managing diverse clinical and research teams

  • Demonstrates initiative particularly in ambiguous situations

  • Possesses excellent time management skills

  • Capable of prioritizing among multiple requests from multiple individuals and able to change direction in response to fluctuating work requirements

  • Skilled in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency of research processes and procedures and subsequently execute improvements

  • Ability to develop effective relationships with a range of stakeholders internally and externally

  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to drive progress in complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives

  • Demonstrated flexibility and ability to cope with competing demands and tight deadlines

Program Coordinator

The Program Coordinator will be an integral part of the team, managing the implementation of several research protocols, as well as contributing to study start-up processes and monitoring activities.

 

Functioning under the direction of the Executive Director and the Assistant Director of the Center, the Program Coordinator will:

  • Support the research faculty and staff in all activities related to study design, protocol development, study execution, and monitoring

  • Manage all regulatory and contractual activities related to the Center’s research portfolio

  • Coordinate and develop project-related deliverables including project plans, PowerPoint presentations, status reports, and meeting facilitation documents

  • Maintain study related data and if needed performs data entry for different clinical trials

  • Present updates, findings and recommendations to internal and external stakeholders as needed for assigned projects

  • Support the development of scientific manuscripts, grant proposals, and oral presentations

Ideal candidate qualifications:

  • BA or BS in a healthcare related field (Master’s degree preferred)

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in the healthcare industry, preferably in an academic research setting

  • Experience managing multi-stakeholder pragmatic clinical trials

  • Ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external investigators to plan, execute and monitor clinical trials

  • Demonstrates a strong work ethic and a desire to deliver work products in an efficient and timely manner

  • Demonstrates initiative particularly in ambiguous situations

  • Possesses excellent time management skills

  • Capable of prioritizing among multiple requests from multiple individuals and able to change direction in response to fluctuating work requirements

  • Skilled in identifying opportunities to improve efficiency of research processes and procedures and subsequently execute improvements

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
